Another Year, Another Book
Feast and Famine 2 is out tomorrow!
It’s hard to believe it’s been a year since the first Feast and Famine book came out, but that’s how time works I guess!
My debut year was, as just about everyone says about their debut year, a whirlwind. I was a B&N Monthly Pick, made the NYT Bestseller List, attended Yallwest, met so many booksellers and young readers, aspiring writers and author friends. Ate at too many restaurants to count. And of course all the while, I was writing.
I pushed my second book, Feast and Famine: The Unbreakable Crown, across the finish line of copy edits and pass pages. I’ve been hard at work on the final installment of the Feast and Famine trilogy, dreaming up my next middle grade story, baking cake after cake as research for another book project that’s very close to my heart.
The Unbreakable Crown comes out tomorrow (!!!) and in the never-ending chaos of edits and emails and hurrying up and waiting that comprise the life of a working writer, I almost let it pass me by. It’s easy to forget to pause and acknowledge the little wins and big milestones when your mind is always on to the next thing.
So tonight I’ll get my nails painted Abundance Feast’s favorite color—pink, obviously—because The Unbreakable Crown gives Bun a chance to tell her side of the story. I’ll spend some time among the trees where Wort, our other narrator, is most at home. And I’ll take time throughout the next few weeks to stop and visit my books in stores around the city, eat pastries, work on edits for Feast and Famine 3 in the prettiest possible places.
